Video | Backstage interview with White Lion’s Mike Tramp at Skogsröjet

Roppongi Rocks’ Stefan Nilsson sat down backstage at the Skogsröjet festival with Mike Tramp of White Lion. “I can’t stand listening to the old albums!” said Mike when he talked about revisiting the catalogue. Watch the interview in the video below.

In the conversation, Mike Tramp discusses performing White Lion songs live, why he has re-recorded and reinterpreted old White Lion songs for his three “Songs of White Lion” albums, his international and Danish solo career, his views on the possibility of any new White Lion songs, working with producer Soren Andersen and much more.

White Lion was formed in New York City in 1983. The core of the band was vocalist Mike Tramp and guitarist Vito Bratta. Some of the other members over the years included Dave Spitz, James LoMenzo, Greg D’Angelo and Jimmy DeGrasso. Between 1985 and 1991, the band released the studio albums “Fight to Survive”, “Pride”, “Big Game” and “Mane Attraction”. Mike Tramp has continued to tour and release albums, including with Freak of Nature and many solo releases, as well as revisiting his White Lion past.

“Songs of White Lion, Vol. III” will be released on 19th September 2025 via Frontiers Music.

This interview was recorded backstage at the Skogsröjet festival in Rejmyre, Sweden on 2nd August 2025.
