Treat “The Wild Card”
Swedish melodic hard rockers Treat are back with their tenth studio album and have announced a Farewell Japan tour.
Ever since the band’s debut album, “Scratch and Bite”, was released in 1985, Treat has been one of Sweden’s leading melodic hard rock bands. They achieved great success in the 1980s, including performing at Monsters of Rock in Germany and opening for Queen and W.A.S.P. in Sweden. In 1993, they called it quits, but reunited in 2006. They have remained active, released new albums and toured ever since. “The Wild Card” is the band’s tenth studio album.
On the new album, which features 13 songs, Treat gives us more of the same. Perhaps the sound has matured a bit, but by and large, this is still catchy melodic hard rock that won’t scare anyone’s parents. “Out with a Bang” has great drive (listen to that bass!). The track “1985” is a great tip of the hat to the band’s past. “Mad Honey” is a standout track which combines Treat’s trademark 80s style with a modern touch. “In the Blink of an Eye” is also a song that combines the classic Treat sound with the here and now.
The current Treat line-up consists of founding members Robert Ernlund (lead vocals) and Anders Wikström (guitar) and long-time members Jamie Borger (drums), Patrick Appelgren (keyboards) and Nalle Påhlsson (bass). It is a solid version of the band.
Treat has announced a Farewell Japan tour for April 2026. Treat’s new album “The Wild Card” will be released on 21st November via Frontiers Music internationally and Marquee/Avalon in Japan.
