Roppongi Rocks’ Stefan Nilsson sat down backstage at the Skogsröjet festival in Sweden with former Europe guitarist Kee Marcello and former The Poodles vocalist Jakob Samuel. Watch the interview in the video below.
Kee Marcello and Jakob Samuel, together with bassist Ken Sandin, were at the festival to perform, for the very first time, an acoustic set of Europe songs from Kee’s era with the band.
The conversation covers the challenges of playing Europe songs acoustically, doing guitar clinics, the resurrection of Easy Action and much more.
Early in his career, Kee Marcello worked with Swedish artists such as Noice and Micke Rickfors, before founding Easy Action together with a couple of former Noice members. In 1986, he was recruited to replace John Norum as Europe’s lead guitarist. He toured the world with the band and contributed to the studio albums “Out of This World” and “Prisoners in Paradise”.
Jakob Samuel started his career as a drummer in bands such as Yale Bate and Talisman before becoming a vocalist with The Poodles and as a solo artist.
