Kreator “Krushers of the World”
German thrash metal leaders Kreator are back with a krushing new album.
What I immediately notice when I first listen to the new Kreator album is that it is a rather successful marriage of thrash metal shredding and catchy melodies.
“Krushers of the World” is a fine thrash metal album. It combines a solid foundation of old-school German thrash metal with a modern sound. Jens Bogren’s production is sublime. Kreator may have been part of the founding fathers of German thrash metal in the ‘80s, but they don’t stand still. They are not stuck in the past.
“Satanic Anarchy” is a very catchy song. So is the title track “Krushers of the World”. “Blood of Our Blood” sums it up nicely: the screeching runaway guitars, the heavy and relentless drums and bass and a sing-along chorus. Other obvious favourite tracks are the excellent “Combatants” and “Deathscream”. The album doesn’t disappoint.
Today, Kreator consists of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Mille Petrozza and drummer Jürgen “Ventor” Reil, both original members who co-founded the band in 1982. They are joined by long-time lead guitarist Sami Yli-Sirniö and bassist Frédéric Leclercq (who joined from Dragonforce in 2019).
Well done, Kreator. Krushers of the world indeed.
